一般而言，美國人一年之中有兩次放長假的時段，一次是耶誕節與新年之間的假期，另外一次則是抓緊夏天尾巴出門度假。雖然大部份公司都在耶誕假期通通休息，但是夏天可就不一定了，大多企業都是採取讓員工輪流休假的方式，即使會有一堆麻煩的事，比如找代理人，代理人即使自身難保，還得應付請假者的工作，導致整體效率降低。
